Jenůfa is a three-act opera of realism with words and music by Leoš Janáček. It is based on the play Její pastorkyňa by Gabriela Preissová. The opera was first performed in 21 January 1904 in Brno, (now in the Czech Republic). It was a great success when it was performed in Prague in 1916. The opera is about the murder of a baby (this is called infanticide).
