Hilda Solis

Hilda Solis (born October 20, 1957)[1] is an American politician and current member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for District 1. She previously served as the United States Secretary of Labor from 2009 to 2013, and as a member of the United States House of Representatives from California's 32nd congressional district from 2003 to 2009.[2] Prior to being a U.S. Representative, she was a California State Senator and a member of the California State Assembly. She was the first Hispanic woman to serve in the California State Senate. Solis is a Democrat. She was elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for District 1 on June 3, 2014. She was sworn in on December 1, 2014.
