Tokugawa Yoshimune

Tokugawa Yoshimune (徳川 吉宗, Tokugawa Yoshimune, November 27, 1684 - July 12, 1751) was a Japanese shogun of the Edo period. His ruled started in 1716 and ended in 1745.[1]

Yoshimune was the son of Tokugawa Mitsusada, the grandson of Tokugawa Yorinobu, and the great-grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu.[1]
Shogun[change | change source]
Yoshimune was the eighth shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate.[1]
Yoshimune's government worked to control the price of rice. This earned him the nickname "Rice Shogun" or "Shogun of Rice" (kome-shōgun).[2]
